A heritage building reimagined for modern café culture.
The brief
Brown Kampot takes place inside a 1920s heritage building, where the design bridges the charm of the past with a contemporary sensibility. The goal was to create a space where history and modern craft coexist naturally, allowing visitors to feel the dialogue between old and new rather than masking it. Original architectural traces are preserved and celebrated, while new interventions bring lightness, warmth, and a refined sense of comfort.
The interior transformation introduces a dynamic and functional space that connects the building’s different levels while adding depth to the overall layout. The courtyard becomes the project’s focal point, bringing natural light and greenery into the interior and acting as a visual anchor that unifies the design elements. This revitalization enhances both functionality and aesthetic quality, creating a cohesive and welcoming environment for its users
The project invites patrons to slow down, appreciate the layers of time, and experience Kampot’s cultural identity through thoughtful materiality and detail.

Natural textures, gentle curves, and warm earthy tones shape a space that feels both rooted and renewed. Each intervention is placed with intention to let historical and contemporary elements enrich one another. The result is a café experience that carries the quiet poetry of Kampot: relaxed, timeless, and full of character.
