Brown Roastery Maline

Shaped by the rhythmic flow of the Bassac River, the project expresses movement through fluid circulation and earthy materials.

The brief

Guided by Bassac River–inspired artwork flowing along the walls, visitors are visually led toward the coffee counter through a narrative of movement and discovery. The spatial journey unfolds through diverse seating arrangements: intimate sofas and small tables for relaxed moments, a generous communal table for focused work, and a raised counter with stools where patrons can enjoy coffee while overlooking the vibrant panorama of Phnom Penh.

Scope of Work

Interior design, lighting design, custom furniture, artisan collaboration.

Every element of the artwork is carefully curated, local sourcing, and sustainability.

Each color, material, and piece serves not only as a visual component but also as a symbolic expression. The spectrum of blues, drawn from river sand, Khmer silk, and sarongs, reflects the Bassac River’s flowing chromatic rhythm. Warm, inviting orange hues, inspired by Khmer textiles, evoke the distinctive character of BROWN Coffee, while deep, rich browns—extracted from the coffee itself—embody the brand’s sensory depth and richness.
