Farm House

A lakeside retreat in rural Cambodia designed as a modern reinterpretation of the Khmer farmhouse.

The brief

Nestled among rice fields and a private pond, Farm House reconnects rural life and contemporary comfort. The design draws from the archetype of traditional Khmer homes, lifting the main living spaces slightly above ground and opening them to the surrounding landscape.

Inside, exposed brick, timber beams and polished concrete create a balance between rustic warmth and refined simplicity. The pitched roof allows generous ventilation and light, while deep eaves and shaded terraces protect from the tropical heat. The result is a home that feels both grounded and open, crafted for slow days and quiet views across the water.

Scope of Work

Architecture and interior design, landscape coordination, material and lighting strategy, and integration of traditional structural details in a contemporary framework.

Light drifts through timber rafters and textured brick, shifting across the rooms as the day unfolds. The atmosphere is calm and tactile, where every surface invites touch and every opening frames the quiet rhythm of rural life.
