K Mall 1 (Veng Sreng)

A contemporary community mall designed as a vibrant social hub for the KMH neighbourhood, combining fluid architecture with generous public spaces and lush greenery.

The brief

K-Mall 1 is conceived as a community destination offering a wide range of amenities to the broader KMH neighbourhood. The program includes a supermarket, convenience stores, F&B outlets, fast retail, and a cineplex. Beyond its commercial offer, the mall introduces generous public spaces through plazas and terraces designed to host community events such as markets, festivals, and outdoor gatherings.

Its architectural identity is defined by a striking undulating curve that acts as both a visual anchor and a dynamic gesture within the urban fabric. This sculptural form gives the mall a distinctive presence, seamlessly blending into integrated planter boxes that soften the built edge with natural greenery. The interplay between architecture and landscape establishes a harmonious dialogue where form and function elevate the overall spatial experience.

This fluid and modern interpretation of movement enhances spatial continuity. The curvature not only guides circulation but also creates a natural rhythm throughout the project. From different vantage points, the design reveals shifting perspectives through variations in light, shadow, and surface texture, creating an ever-changing visual experience that encourages exploration.

Greenery is integrated thoughtfully across the project, complementing the soft curves of the built form. These planted areas extend the spatial experience outward, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior. The landscape brings a refreshing sensory dimension that transforms the mall into a welcoming environment where families and friends can relax, gather, and enjoy a lively day out. This biophilic approach reinforces K Mall’s commitment to human-centred design, where nature and architecture coexist seamlessly.

Through this expressive architectural language, K-Mall 1 transcends the conventional retail typology, offering a refined and contextually responsive statement that is both dynamic and visually captivating.
