A landmark creative office building in Phnom Penh designed to inspire collaboration, flexibility, and community.
The brief
Raintree challenges the traditional office block typology with a distinctive green façade that balances clean lines and understated elegance. Designed as a professional yet welcoming environment, the building fosters productivity, collaboration and innovation within a space that feels both contemporary and human.
Located in Phnom Penh’s rapidly growing business district, the building sits on a prominent corner site bordered by tree-lined avenues and a public park. This setting allows the ground floor to activate the streetscape through cafés, restaurants, convenience retail and sports outlets, creating a lively urban edge that supports both the building’s tenants and the neighborhood around it.
Generous pavements along the frontage separate pedestrian areas from parking zones, creating an inviting interface where people can gather, wait for food or enjoy a shaded stroll. Rows of mature rain trees enhance the microclimate and reinforce the project’s identity. The café adjacent to the lobby acts as an informal extension of the workplace and a welcoming space for meetings and networking.
A pedestrian alley runs through the building, connecting surrounding streets and creating a vibrant corridor reminiscent of Phnom Penh’s lunch alleys. This encourages pop-up vendors, spontaneous activities and a sense of community that extends beyond the office tenants.
The planted façade provides visual relief from the city’s steel-and-glass architecture, improving thermal comfort while softening the building’s presence. Inside, flexible office layouts accommodate a wide range of tenants, from small startups to large corporate teams and co-working arrangements.
At the rooftop, a large multipurpose space hosts events, workshops, training sessions, wellness programs and community gatherings. An open-air sky bar offers expansive views over Phnom Penh, turning the roof into an active social destination.
Scope of Work
Architecture, interior design for a boutique office development for flexible workspaces, shared event and terrace amenities, and a refined material and detailing strategy to create a contemporary, human-centred workplace.
Raintree’s green façade and tree-shaded edges bring nature back into the urban block, creating a cooler microclimate and enhancing well-being for occupants. The rooftop space extends this philosophy through a mix of wellness classes, workshops and cultural events, turning the building into a dynamic hub for work, creativity and community.
