A peaceful riverside retreat balancing architecture, landscape, and lifestyle.
The brief
Soursdey Residence is envisioned as a peaceful riverside retreat that balances architecture, landscape, and lifestyle. The masterplan stretches from the riverfront to the main road, creating a clear sequence from arrival to private living. A defined arrival court at the entrance provides a welcoming transition into the landscaped setting, gradually revealing the river beyond.
Scope of Work
Master planning, architecture, interior design, landscape design, lighting strategy, furniture and material selection, design supervision.
At the river’s edge, the main residence and pool are positioned to capture views and breezes, supported by courtyards and shaded areas that enhance comfort and openness. Moving inward, additional buildings are set within gardens and courtyards, offering flexible spaces for family, guests, and quieter retreats while maintaining visual and spatial connection. A curving pathway forms the central spine, weaving through trees and lawns to link all functions and turning circulation into a series of unfolding experiences. Overall, the design emphasizes modern comfort, privacy, and harmony with nature, with the river as the defining backdrop.
The two bungalows are designed as intimate retreats that blend tradition with modern comfort. The smaller bungalow uses a compact form with a pitched roof and a wooden deck that extends living into the garden. The larger bungalow is more open, with a shaded veranda and terrace overlooking the lawn. Both use natural materials, warm tones, and generous openings to stay closely connected to the landscape.
The main house is approached by a warm-toned brick pathway that leads through a green courtyard lined with mature trees. Clean modern lines are softened by natural materials, with wood to the upper façade and large glazing to bring daylight and garden views inside. An open plan supports easy indoor–outdoor living, while the subtly sloped roof and natural finishes reinforce a calm, grounded atmosphere. At the back, a layered riverside setting—courtyard, pool, and pavilion—creates space for family life, gatherings, and quiet rest, open to breezes and framed by greenery.
