Design philosophy

HKA is a Cambodia-based architecture studio founded in 2010 by Hok Kang and San Chanritthy.

Over the past decade, the studio has grown into one of Cambodia’s leading design practices, known for its thoughtful, human-centered approach and commitment to creating meaningful spaces. Rooted in context and culture, HKA believes architecture should feel grounded—responding naturally to climate, material, people, and place.

At HKA, design is more than form and function — it is a dialogue between people, place, and purpose. Each project reflects a deep appreciation for materiality, light, art, craftsmanship. Our work balances simplicity and elegance, blending aesthetic beauty with practicality to deliver spaces that are timeless and enduring.

HKA’s diverse portfolio spans hospitality, commercial, and residential projects, including Brown Coffee, Raintree, Embassy Central, Treeline Urban Resort, K Mall, ISI Park, Borey Chankiri, and Norea Park Promenade. Through these works, the studio continues to help shape Cambodia’s contemporary design landscape, setting benchmarks for authenticity, quality, and relevance.

01  Site Context

Design should be carefully tailored to respond to the unique context of the site, integrating its natural features, cultural significance, and environmental conditions to create a harmonious and functional space.

Design should be guided by human-centricity, prioritising the needs, experiences, and well-being of individuals to create spaces that resonate with their everyday lives.

Aspire to incorporate materiality, light, art, craftsmanship, and the essence of nature into design, creating spaces that are not only functional but also inspiring and harmonious with their surroundings.

Why settle for good when we can be better embracing our roles as dreamers, creators, and explorers, always seeking to elevate our aspirations and achievements.
