Siem Reap River

A large scale landscape regeneration project positioned at the heart of Siem Reap, transforming the river corridor into a civic park system where ecology, culture and public life coexist.

The brief

The project reimagines the Siem Reap River as a linear public space, stitching together temples, residential districts, markets and key visitor nodes. A new network of pedestrian paths, cycle ways and crossings improves mobility and encourages active transport.

Public plazas, gardens and boardwalks form destinations along the corridor, offering shaded gathering spaces and improved access to the water.

Scope of Work

Concept proposal

Landscape elements reference Khmer craft and temple geometry, strengthening the connection between the city, the river and its historic context.

Native planting strategies rebuild habitat and resilience along the riverbanks, improving stormwater management and controlling erosion. The seasonal rhythm of the river becomes an identity feature rather than a challenge, supporting nature-based adaptation.
