A vibrant pedestrian corridor transforming Siem Reap’s Wat Bo District.
The brief
Wat Bo Walkstreet reimagines a once informal, vehicle-dominated road into a lively pedestrian-first public realm. The project connects daily life, culture, and community rhythm through a sequence of shaded pathways, pocket plazas, and flexible spaces. Generous planting buffers movement from traffic, while permeable edges invite people to pause, gather, and rediscover the street as a shared civic asset.
Scope of Work
Urban public realm strategy, pedestrian walkway design, street furniture and lighting strategy, landscape integration, accessibility planning, community rhythm zoning, and placemaking framework aligning culture, ecology, and daily use.
Inspired by Siem Reap’s tropical ecology and the social patterns of Khmer streets, the project blends greenery, community programming, and accessible movement. Shaded seating, natural materials, and intuitive wayfinding create a walkable and comfortable public environment throughout the year. The design encourages walking and cycling, supports local businesses, and builds a renewed identity for the neighbourhood.
