Borey Chankiri I Park

A peaceful community park designed for everyday leisure, wellness and family life

The brief

Located at the heart of the Borey Chankiri neighbourhood, this park was conceived as a green retreat that supports daily life in one of Phnom Penh’s most established gated communities. The design brings together generous shade, native planting and fluid pathways to create a welcoming environment where residents can walk, exercise and gather throughout the day.

Every element has been shaped by a simple principle: enhance community life while preserving a calm and natural aesthetic. Seating areas, open lawns and shaded plazas are positioned to support a wide range of activities, from solo morning exercise to weekend gatherings. Native trees and layered vegetation help foster biodiversity, reduce heat and create a year-round sense of wellbeing.

Scope of Work

Design development and landscape planning focused on creating a cohesive recreational space with circulation paths, shaded seating, exercise nodes, native planting zones and community-oriented gathering spaces that integrate seamlessly with the Borey Chankiri residential environment.

A park shaped by movement, shade and community culture

The park design encourages residents to move freely and intuitively. Curved paths follow natural desire lines and connect the neighbourhood’s walkways, ensuring the park feels like an extension of the urban fabric rather than a separate destination. A careful balance between open space and planted areas ensures comfort, variety and long-term flexibility.

Strategic planting reinforces the microclimate and creates soft transitions between built form and nature. Materials and detailing remain intentionally simple and warm, supporting durability while fostering a calm and familiar identity consistent with Borey Chankiri’s architectural character.
